for yer cinema fix--
the following films CURRENTLY screen someplace in Los Angeles, unless stated otherwise.
[the old school cinema selection presented here only scratches the surface cos i'm not fully immersed in the past/for those who desire more visit the respected web links that follow this entry]

at the NUART THIS WEEK:
"OSS 117: LOST IN RIO" is a sexy French spy/romp/comedy
surprise hit sequel to some other spy comedy of the same nature
(007 meets Austin Powers? lame).
this film will screen till Thursday/at which point:
"Trash Humpers" from Harmony Korine (of
Kids/Gummo fame) returns with another
uncomfortable, plot-less (surely), pensive piece
of work. be prepared to be disappointed. also,
be prepared to defend your opinion if you do
enjoy it (people be hating). starts FRIDAY.

at the LANDMARK:
"Exit Through the Gift Shop" is a Banksy film, surely chronicling his adventures in crime and offering some sort of commentary.

Cinefamily @ The Silent Movie Theatre
play host to a different show a night.
on THURSDAY, MAY 13
will host "Fairy Tales For Grown-Ups"/as such, they will tackle
a double feature including alternate takes on Alice and Wonderland.
the dirty possibilities . . . "Black Moon" shown with
"Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders"
and finally at
The New Beverly Cinema
an Alfred Hitchcock double bill
on WEDNESDAY/ May12, and THURSDAY/ May 13
featuring
* "Rear Window"(1954) and
* "The Trouble With Harry" (1955)
